Lagos state suspends environmental sanitation

The Lagos State Government has cancelled the environmental sanitation for the month of November to allow residents participate fully in the distribution and collection of the Permanent Voter Cards.

The Commissioner for the Environment, Tunji Bello, who made the statement to pressmen at the state’s secretariat, Ikeja on Thursday, added that the decision was to also allow officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission easy access to their centres.

Bello said, “The decision to cancel the exercise is to assist INEC officials in their logistics, as they will need to move men and materials to different parts of the state.

“This cancellation is also to allow residents who have not collected their Permanent Voter Cards to do so, as well as allow those who have not registered to do so.

“In view of this therefore, the statewide restriction of vehicular and human movement is hereby lifted for the November sanitation exercise to allow Lagosians participate actively in the INEC registration and collection of Permanent Voters Card in the State.”

The PVC distribution exercise is scheduled for November 28 to 30.
