Residents of Madagali local government area
of Adamawa state have cried out over Boko Haram attacks carried out by
their sons and daughters who joined the sect, Today.ng reports.
“The vigilante and local hunters seems to work more than the military in the area.”
Speaking about the recent attacks in Yola state, Jesman said: “The defunct Boko Haram are no more much in operation the way they use to be because of how they have been disjointed and displaced, the recent killings of 7 people and setting ablaze 10 Houses of notable people in the area was discovered been done by our own children who joint Boko Haram group”.
The head of civil service noted that the terrorists’ attacks in the area is a result of Madagali’s location as it borders with Borno state and Sambisa forest. He added that only their children know the terrain better than the military men stationed in the area.
Jesman recalled that in the last Boko Haram attack a boy came back from the terrorists’ hidden camp and threatened to kill his father after killing many people in a village called Kirchinga. His father ran and the boy set their house on fire.
Commenting on the incident, Emmanuel Tsandu, the member representing Madagali constituency in the Adamawa House of Assembly, noted:
“The vigilante and local hunters seems to work more than the military in the area is all because they are very much conversant with the terrain than the Nigerian soldiers.”
Tsandu called on the federal government and well-meaning Nigerian to help people of Madagali as is only the remaining LGA in Adamawa that has been experiencing Boko Haram attacks in recent days.
During a midnight attack, on Monday, January 11, Boko Haram insurgents killed six residents of Madagali LGA.
A fleeing resident said that members of the sect burnt two houses of prominent people in the area, killed six people, while eight other residents were injured in their bid to escape the onslaught.
