Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Christian absentee from Aston Villa.
The Anfield club recently triggered the £32.5m release clause on the Belgian hitman’s previous contract, which was due to runout in 2017.
Benteke, 24, who scored 12 goals in 12 games last season for Aston Villa, has signed a long-term contract with the Reds.
He told the club’s official website: “I’m very happy to be here and I would like to thank the owners, Ian [Ayre] and of course the manager for their massive effort to bring me here.
“It’s hard to show your emotion when you’ve just come from doing something [like this] but of course I am very happy.”

Benteke joined Aston Villa from Genk in August 2012 for £7m and scored 49 goals in over 100 appearances. He has scored seven times in 24 international appearances.
Liverpool sold Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for £49m and has swiftly moved to secure his replacement, who would also fill in for the injured Daniel Sturridge in the meantime while he continues recovery.
